Nordic Circus Residency in Norway Summer 2014!

nordisktNNCN (New Nordic Circus Network) has received a grant from Kulturkontakt Nord for welcoming Nordic circus projects to residency during 2013 and 2014. This second call is for one residency during the coming summer. 

Application deadline is April 1. 

What is offered?
A residency of altogether one month (split into two periods of 15 days) is offered to one artistic company. The selected company will be welcomed
– for 15 days to Sandvika in Norway (14-28 June)
– for 15 days to Oslo in Norway (3-17 August)
Both residency periods are in the framework of the mobile circus festival Circus Village organised by Norwegian Cirkus Xanti.

The residency will cover the company´s costs for travels, transport, accommodation and per diems for the whole time period of 30 days. On top of that, the residency will cover costs of maximum 2000 euro for technical needs/equipment and 500 euro for marketing materials. The residency also pays a fee of an artistic mentor to work with the company, to a maximum amount of 1500 euro. Production coaching and rigging/technical consulting can be offered if wished by the company.

Who can apply?
The residency will be given to rehearsing time for one Nordic contemporary circus project that is planned to premiere during 2015. The project must be Nordic, which means that it must be produced or co-produced in at least one of the Nordic countries.

The residency demands that there is at least one week of work with an artistic mentor/director/outside eye during the time of the residency, to develop the artistic concept of the project.

Work in progress presentation and local artists meeting
The selected artistic company will be asked to present an open work in progress in the end of the residency time. The company will also be asked to have a meeting with local artists sometime during the residency. Details on how the work in progress presentation and the artist meeting is implemented, is decided in dialogue with the residency center.

How is the selection done?
Representatives of NNCN from Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway make the selection. The Nordic relevance and importance of the artistic project is evaluated, as well as the estimated capacity to make the project real and bring it to fruition. An important aspect that is evaluated in the selection is the motivation and wish to work with a mentor/director/outside eye to develop the artistic conceptualization of the project.

How to apply and deadline
Fill in and send the application form to You need to argument for the Nordic relevance of your project and its importance for the development of Nordic contemporary circus, as well as for you interest in working with an artistic mentor. You must also be able to show a realistic time plan, production plan and budget for the project.
